Last week was World Composting Week! 

We are very proud of our composting system at Solway and educating students about how and why we compost our fruit and veggie scraps. Our students witness the whole process of composting, from placing their fruit into their class’s compost bin, to using the soil in our compost bins to grow new produce in our kitchen garden. 

Here you can see Lachie and Patrick, who run the compost bins at Solway by emptying all the fruit scraps bins around the school on a Friday afternoon. 

Environment Hero Award 

A big congratulations to Indra for being awarded the Environment Hero Award this week at assembly. During our whole school Friday clean up, Indra was seen picking up rubbish that was hidden around the school and encouraging her classmates to do the same. Well done, Indra!
