Prep Presentation at Junior Years Assembly

It’s been a busy week for Prep as they were preparing to share their learning at the Junior Years Assembly.

They shared how they had been collecting data about ‘Superheroes’.  They also performed ‘Jesus is My Superhero’ with great confidence.

Prep and Year 1

The current focus across the program for Prep E , Prep F, and Year 1E on the Mambourin Campus has been developing communications skills (Approaches to learning: Exchanging-information skills - listening, interpreting, speaking, Literacy skills - reading, writing, and using language to gather and communicate information). This has occurred through the ‘How we express ourselves’ units for both year levels. They have been exploring how we communicate ideas, experiences, and thoughts using our senses and writing skills. This can be through storytelling, role play, and of course, in how we interact, write, draw and sing. It has been exciting to see learners retell stories through these different mediums. The Year 1E class has been exploring the way recipes can tell a story, and reflecting on the emotions that can be expressed through characters in stories. Prep E and Prep F have been learning about how they can create (to draw, write, make, and act) to express their thinking.  Through these experiences, our learners develop their oral and written expression as they become aware of an audience. This develops their ability to be a part of a discussion, or how they develop a written creative piece.

We are impressed with the way our learners are becoming more confident as risk-takers and exploring language and expression.
