Principal News

Dear Sacred Heart School Community,

Prayer

We ask for your prayers for one of our own who is in hospital after a major health scare. Marty's beautiful wife Tez had a heart attack on Saturday. She is currently in hospital recovering from surgery to put a stent in a blocked artery. We know the healing power of prayer will be with Tez, Marty and their family during this challenging time as we pray:

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Marty's Year Five/Six class for the way they have conducted themselves during Marty's absence. They have shown true leadership and displayed how much they care for their teacher through their actions and decisions to be the best version of themselves these past three days. Thank you

Feast of the Sacred Heart (One Heart Many Faces)

As mentioned over the last couple of weeks, our parish and school feast day will be celebrated on Sunday 18th June. We have a number of students involved in the Mass and their parents were informed by letter yesterday. Our school choir is also singing at the Mass and we would love to see as many members in attendance at the 10.30am Mass as possible. We will send out a letter to parents of all choir members early next week.

Students attending the Mass are encouraged to wear a costume representing their heritage as they did on Harmony Day earlier this year.

After Mass, those who wish to join our parish partners for refreshments are invited to the parish hall. If attending you are invited to bring a plate so we can enjoy some food and good company. Our feast day is one of celebrating our rich diversity. As such, if you would like to bring some food that represents your families culture, you are warmly encouraged to do so.

Indigenous Garden/Yarning Space

Work started today on our indigenous garden/ yarning space. It is anticipated that the project will be completed early next week. We will have an official opening of the garden along with our new adventure playground and outdoor learning space next term. Next term our Year Five/Six class will design an indigenous totem with appropriate design and create an indigenous name that captures the essence of the garden.

School Nurse Visit for Foundation Students

As mentioned in last week's newsletter and in a letter to the parents of our Foundation students the Primary School Nursing Program will happen next term when they respond to the School Entrant Health Questionnaire (SEHQ) and support the health and wellbeing of foundation students.

Parents of our Foundation students received their School Entrant Health Questionnaire (SEHQ) last week.

A SEHQ with parent consent is required for our Foundation students to be assessed by the Primary School Nurse. The nurse will collect all completed SEHQs directly from our school by the 15/06/23.

Yours Sincerely

Mark Tierney
