VCE Legal Studies Excursion

Finuala Neeson

On Wednesday the 10th of May, the year 11 & 12 legal students attended the Parliamentary Regional Visit. The 18 of us went to the showgrounds to experience a real-life example of Parliament, learning the process of making a new law by taking on the roles of members of Parliament and by debating and voting on the bill. This was based on sexting and the passing of the law in 2014. We took on the Parliamentary role play by interacting as if we were in Parliament, wearing robes, speaking, and performing the opening of Parliament. This was an insightful experience of how laws are made and how long they can take.
