Kate Couchman

Welcome back to all of our students and families to Term two.  We have many wellbeing initiatives planned for this term to benefit the health and wellbeing of our Monivae students.

Emma House presentation

On Wednesday 28th April, Amy Lane, Principal Solicitor from Emma House, visited Monivae and presented to our Year 10 and 11 students about healthy relationships, consent, responsible use of digital technology, and warning signs of unhealthy relationships. Students were very attentive and engaged throughout the presentation. We thank Amy for her time and expertise in helping our young people navigate their adolescence and relationships.

Wellbeing Information- Vaping

I have had parents contact me requesting information about vaping. It is important to read information that is valid and well researched. I have provided some resources below that families might find beneficial.

There is a fantastic podcast from parenting expert, Maggie Dent. It also features Paul Dillon from the Drug and Alcohol Research and Training Australia and discusses the risks of vaping and why a growing number of young people are doing it. The advice includes what to do if your child is vaping, if they become addicted to these devices, and how parents can help them quit.

Access the podcast here: https://www.abc.net.au/radio/programs/parental-as-anything-with-maggie-dent/what-to-do-if-your-kid-is-vaping/102129866

Similarly, there is accurate and reliable information on the Quit Australia website: https://www.quit.org.au/articles/teenvaping/
