Around the Primary Classrooms

Kinder

Our Kinder students have been enjoying the outdoors and Autumn weather. Our weekly Bush Kinder sessions have started at neighbouring Lambert Park.

Year 3

Year 3 has been learning all about prayer, but not just Catholic prayer. We have discussed how some other religions pray as well. The students read about Tibetan prayer flags and how the monks hang these flags so that the wind carries the blessing written on the flags far and wide. Year 3 created their own prayer flags to send blessings out to people and things close to their hearts.

Year 5 Camp

READY SET GO and we are off, how blessed we are with the weather.

Yesterday we as a Year 5 community headed to Port Arthur for the start of what will be the most amazing camp ever.

However, before we even got to the caravan park our day was ‘jam packed’ as we explored some amazing places along the way, such as the Tessellated Pavement, Devil’s Kitchen and Tasman Arch, just to name a few.  We were also lucky enough to hear amazing stories from Jude McDonald, who is part of the Parrdarrama Pungena Aboriginal Community. He shared what life was like for our First Nations people in this area of Tasmania before white man arrived. A huge thanks to Mrs Himson for organising this part of the trip for us and for giving up her day to come and help us understand more about the impact settlement had on so many.

As you can see this is only a snippet of our story so far as today we head to Port Arthur Historic Site and The Isle of the Dead.  So stay tuned for the next installment in The View newsletter in a fortnight’s time, where we will entertain you again with more stories and photos from our time away.
