LANGUAGE LEARNING AND MUSIC

Learning a language becomes a lot easier with the help of music. Singing a song in another language is not only enjoyable, it is also developing excellent pronunciation. It helps to discover and practice new words and even grammatical structures. But all areas of the brain are benefitting from these learning activities. Students form connections in the brain and the multiple repeats of these multi-sensory activities strengthen these connections. Students do not only improve their additional language skills, they also strengthen their first language abilities.

FRENCH MUSIC WITH 7F

What do you do when you have a class of very enthusiastic students with a passion for music and French? You play French music.

In the last week of Term 1, students from 7F had the opportunity to learn a popular French song from the 1960s: Les Champs-Elysées from music legend Joe Dassin.

Although the tune was challenging, the students worked really hard and by the end of the week, they were able to sing the words accurately.

Everyone had a great time (me included!). Hopefully we can do the same thing some time soon.

A la prochaine fois !
