We are halfway through Term 1, and so much has happened. I have had the pleasure of attending Primary School assemblies this year and last week saw 5 Red give a remarkable performance around 'States of Matter'. I had just quizzed the student about my passion (Science) and then they absolutely hit the nail on the head with their performance. Great job 5 Red and Ms Le.
The School is part way through the development of a School Plan. At our next P&C meeting in Week 7, I hope to be able to discuss the plan with parents, seeking their view on what we have set as goals for the next four years. This plan is the initial part of the process which will then get adjusted and activities will be formulated to support the plan each year for the four year cycle.
Rural Cup training is in full swing. After missing out last year, staff and students are keen for the opportunity to engage in this competition which is a long running tradition between Molong, Oberon and Canowindra. Our first leg will be in Oberon on the 18th March. Hopefully it will be a sunny day in Oberon and our students can enjoy making new friends and the vigorous competition on the day. I would like to thank all our staff who take on roles as coaches and especially the leaders on the day, Ms Bec Corby and Mr Mark
Paterson.
Can I stress the importance of students being at school every day? Going to school every day is the single most important part of your child’s education. Students learn new things at school each day. Attending and participating in school will help your child develop:
· important skills and knowledge to help them learn
· social and emotional skills such as good communication, resilience and team work.
Children who attend school every day and complete Year 12 have:
· better health
· better job opportunities
· higher income across their lives.
There is no safe number of days for missing school. Each day a student misses puts them behind. Parents - please work with us to ensure your child gets the best opportunities from their school life.
Congratulations to our amazing Primary students who represented MCS at the ODPSSA Swimming Carnival in Orange last Thursday.
We have a record number of students going through to Western and ended up as the winning school for the day based on percentage of points to students ratio.
An outstanding result for Zoe Strahorn who was the overall 11Year Girl Champion, Ayden Penson and George Davis who were overall Junior Boy Champions and Ben Brazier who was the Senior Boy Champion runner up.
Thank you to all parents for their support, cheering and decorations!
