2021 Energy Breakthrough Challenge

Well 2021 once again saw Covid claim another victim, when the event scheduled at Maryborough  was again cancelled, with much disappointment

Ballarat High school were the defending class champion’s and we were very much looking forward to competing at this event again.

The School had secured enough interest to again form three teams of enthusiastic students, who will now continue to train and fundraise in preparation for the 2022 event.

The team has now prepared three new designed trikes, with improved aerodynamics and reduced weight by using more carbon fibre in the vehicle construction.

Additionally, one of the trikes has been designed to incorporate an electric motor later which could allow an upgrade to compete in the hybrid class if enough funds are raised in the future.

The Energy Breakthrough program has proved to be a very successful extra-curricular program open to all year level students. It is very successful in developing a wide range of skills with competing students.  It provides opportunity to approximately 35 students each year. The team is always looking to form links with the community.
