Student Council

Our Student Council have certainly kick-started their tenure with us by organising and assisting with the following.

  • The inaugural Student/Staff Basketball Challenge was held last week and congratulations must go to Team 1 who beat the other 4 teams. All students showed considerable kindness in their dealings with the staff and we were all gobsmacked by the skill shown by our players - but a special mention must go to Mr Wayne (Legs) Lairdy, Miss Kelsey (Speedy) Smith and sensational Miss Georgia (Goals!!) Sharpe. Best dressed was Ms KV who pretended she knew how to play with great aplomb. A big thank you to all staff and students who put their all in. Participants are still talking about it and the game is already planned to  be a regular event.
  • The Special Dinner (Xmas Extravaganza) raised over $60 to donate towards The Blue Tree Project. Thank you to the Kitchen Staff who cooked up a storm. Best dressed were the fabulous Xmas foursome, Mr Bayley Hall who always looks “schmicko” and a number of other students who put in the extra effort.
  • The Leavers' jumpers were designed at student suggestions by Cody Stanfield. The Student Council surveyed the Year 11’s for the final design.  The design has been ratified by the College Board and are ready to be sent off for production. They will be 100% cotton rugby-type jumpers and hopefully ready for distribution before the weather gets cold early next year.

  • The Blue Tree has been painted by the student Councillors (and some weekend helpers) on the evening of Year 12’s valedictory. The current Council wanted to honour and complete a project that the outgoing Council had had on their radar for some time.

Thanks Student Councillors, you rock!

Congratulations to Chantelle Pries who is the Champion Girls Firefighter “Goldfields Zone” and we wish her well as she heads into the State Championships this weekend in Fremantle. The Games uses all the skills required by volunteer firefighters are very impressive to watch.

Reminders for next year

Just a reminder to all students and parents as we head into a new year that we have high expectations of our current Year 11’s as they become the leaders of our student cohort next year.

  1. No phones to be taken out of dorms during school hours. This school has a mobile phone policy that states that all students are to leave their phones in their rooms (preferably in their safes). Can we please ask for parent support in assisting us to give their child the best opportunity to learn during the school day. Unlike many boarding schools all students are able to access their devices after school and during the whole evening.
  2. Full and correct uniform to be worn at all times. Many Year 11’s have grown out of their uniforms and are requiring new items including correct black leather shoes and belts.
  3. No spray deodorant, fly spray or perfume sprays to be brought to the College. All will be confiscated during the morning room checks. This goes against the College Guidelines, breaches our Asthma-friendly school policy and places us and the student(s) at risk of a very expensive call-out fee if the smoke alarms go through to DFES.
  4. Damage incurred by a student to College facilities will be billed to the parents.
  5. We finish at 3pm on Fridays as of next year ☺
