From the Associate Principal

It has been a very busy Term Four and has been packed with plenty of social, academic and sporting opportunities. As we near the end of 2021, our Year 11's have completed their schooling for their first year at the College and are no doubt busily helping families in any capacity that they can.  Since my last article the Year 12 ATAR students have completed their final external exams and our Year 11 ATAR students have finished their Semester Two examinations.

I enjoyed being part of the Valedictory Ceremony for our departing Year 12 students as well as the final Awards Assembly for our Year 11 cohort. Having gone through it with my own children, I know what a momentous occasion it is for all parties and to be a part of these two proceedings was extremely rewarding. It was fantastic to see the parents and relatives all embracing the event and I enjoyed chatting with all of you.

Over the last month I spoke with students and some parents on an individual basis, tracking their progress in Year 11 and looking at what improvements (if any) could be made and how the College can assist their academic achievement. As I mentioned previously, I have been impressed with the way that the students have engaged in the process and ownership they have taken to help themselves achieve their personal best.

I would like to thank the College staff for the extra support they have provided to our students over the last month in particular. Students were given extra opportunities to complete assessment items, finish Certificate Units of Competency and work on the Farm to assist the operational aspect of the College environment and also to improve their understanding of the requirements of running and maintaining a ‘working farm’. The staff at Cunderdin Ag go above and beyond to ensure that your child receives the best educational outcomes and to support them in every aspect of College life.

I would once again like to reiterate my sincere appreciation for the support that staff, students and parents have provided over this term. The culture that exists here is one of positivity, support and excellence and was never more evident than in a speech by a former student at the Year 11 presentations. Harris Thompson spoke with pride about the College, about his positive relationships with staff and of his life-long friendships with fellow class-mates. I know that our students in 2022 will speak with the same pride and veneration and that is what makes our College unique.

I hope that everyone has an enjoyable break and that families get the opportunity to spend this quality time together.
