Visual Arts

What a joy it is to have all students back at school. Specialist teachers are delighted to be back teaching face to face. Classes are taking place in classrooms rather than the Art room due to Covid safety restrictions.

This week the grade 5 and 6 classes were very happy to finally be able to put the finishing touches to their 3D Steampunk creations. They look fabulous!

Each student at St James is contributing to a collaborative art display by making a butterfly. In lessons this week we talked about how being in Lockdown is a bit like being in a cocoon. Some of our insightful Foundation students suggested that now that we are out and about we can be like butterflies, going where we want to and showing our own individual 'colours'.

While Lockdown resulted in a restricted art program it is wonderful to be finishing the year with art projects that will foster new skills and creativity.
