The Wurrin hub has been impressed with how all students have transitioned into their new 2022 year levels and classes. The new Year 8 and 9 students have done a great job with arriving to classes on time, putting in a lot of effort with their new subjects and class work and turning up in correct uniform and with a good attitude. Keep up the great work, we are looking forward to 2022.
The new Year 8 classes have been lucky enough to be involved in a science incursion run by students from the University of Melbourne. The students got to have a go at some fun hands on activities to learn about a range of topics including the respiratory system, biodiversity, and pathogens (things that can make us sick!). The Year 8 students were also able to hear about the varied experiences of the university students and ask questions about uni life and exciting STEM pathways.

In English for Head-start, we have investigated the idea of the Hero's journey and how this is often used in literature and films. To prove their learning, students were asked to plot the key parts of the model against a film or book they know well, then present it to the class. Here are a couple of excellent examples from 8G.
Reminder to all students to make sure their lockers are neat and tidy on the last day of school and to take home any clothes or food that may be sitting in their lockers.
