At the start of the year, we talked about the novel ‘Wonder’ and one of the quotes was "why fit in if you are born to stand out". Well, some people in our class decided to live by that for the year. This year has been challenging but 7Q pushed on through lockdown to lockdown and continued learning. Even people who didn’t attend Webex still kept trying to learn and continue through their learning experience with Bairnsdale Secondary College. Camp went ahead despite the many times we had to reschedule because of going in and out of lockdown … in, out, in, out, in, out… this year’s been like recorded loop.
When we did finally get to go on camp the majority of the class came. It was a great experience for all the Year 7 students because we finally got some freedom from the hard year we have had. During the camp we were able to unlock things about ourselves that we didn’t think was possible… we really gave everything a go. When we got back from camp we got straight back into school. 7Q have had a great first year of secondary school even though we faced some road bumps.
The class is now looking forward to Year 8 and the new things that it brings.
The following awards were presented to the Year 7 students. Congratulations to all the students who received awards.

On the 7th of December we were able to welcome our Year 7 cohort for 2022. There were a lot nerves at the start of the day but as the day progressed it was great to see the students starting to settle in.
Activities we competed throughout the day included a scavenger hunt, some getting to know you activities, tabloid sports and some Maths/English activities. These sessions allowed students to learn about each other, demonstrate some skills and will help support the relationship our students have with their teachers and staff throughout the college.
We thank everyone involved and we look forward to welcoming our 'new' Year 7 students in 2022.
