Year 2 – Poetry

In Writing, the Year 2 students have been learning about different types of Poems.

Students have learnt about:

-Acrostic Poems

-Haiku Poems

-Colour Poems

-Senses Poems

The students have been working hard to improve their writing skills through poetry. Some of the skills they have been developing are:

-correct use of punctuation

-adding adjectives to make their writing more descriptive

-following the writing process, including planning, drafting, editing, revising and publishing their work.

Student Feedback

"My favourite part of poetry was making a colour poem. My poem was about the colour orange and how it makes me feel scared.

I really enjoyed publishing my writing and adding pictures as well."

"My favourite type of poem is an acrostic poem. That is where you write your name down the side, and you start each sentence with the letters of your name. 

It's my favourite because you can be really creative with it!"
