School Events,  Gatherings and Assemblies

All government schools are required to follow the Department of Education and Training's (DET) COVID-19 Operational Guidelines in relation to COVID-19 restrictions and safety measures. These are regularly updated to reflect changes to community obligations. These guidelines must be followed by schools and the following advice from the most recent update to these guidelines state the following about school events:

  • Outdoor events are strongly encouraged.
  • Assemblies and other events exclusive to staff and students from single school can resume.
  • Formals, graduations, and other ceremonies (including events held off school premises and/or with parents/carers and other guests) can resume, however they must align with community settings.
  •  Indoor events will remain subject to the obligations such as caps and density quotients. All eligible adults must be fully vaccinated.
  •  Outdoor events can be held with up to 500 people, with a density quotient of one person per two square metres applied.

At Clyde PS, we are currently working through a number of upcoming school events to determine what can occur, how these can occur safely for our students, staff and school community. When we have finalised these decisions, we will update parents via Compass. Some of the events we are planning, but are not limited to:

  • Year 6 Graduation
  • Christmas Carols
  • Swimming Carnivals
  • Colour Fun Run
  • Whole School Assembly

Student Leaders

Our Year 5 students have all been given information regarding leadership positions for 2022 and those who are wanting to apply are currently in the process of writing their applications. Once applications are completed, those applying for School Captain, Vice Captain and House Captain positions will be given an opportunity to present their speeches to their teachers and class mates before completing an interview process.

Students who are applying for other leadership roles will have their application read by various staff at school, who will consult to determine the best candidate for each position. Students will be notified of the outcome in week 9 and will be announced to the school community at our whole school assembly in week 10.

Transition into 2022

On Monday, we had our first Foundation transition session at school for our 2022 Foundation students. It was lovely being able to meet this new cohort of students, interact with them and begin building relationships with each student. We welcomed new families into the school, along with existing families who have a new child beginning. These children enjoyed play based activities at the beginning, listening to stories and making a crown.

Whole school transition is continuing to progress with staff drafting potential classes for 2022. Students will participate in transition sessions, before final class lists are completed in preparation for our whole school transition day on Tuesday 7th December. Please remember to email the school if your child will not be attending Clyde PS next year.

Chaplain Update

Unfortunately our Chaplaincy program provided by CHIPS, will not proceed for the rest of 2021 but will commence again in 2022.  We would like to thank and acknowledge Michelle for working with us this year. We know that she had spent her time, reaching out to parents and children to have a chat and being a friendly ear to talk to over the phone.

If you have any wellbeing concerns about your child, you can discuss these with your child's teacher or our school Wellbeing staff, Mrs Hayley Taylor or Mr Lee Russell.

Kids Helpline is also a great resource for children of any age, they have been supporting children for over 30 years. You can reach out to the kids hotline in the following ways.
