'That Sugar Film'
Year 9 Elective - 'My 2040 Saving the Planet'
On Thursday 27th February, the Shepparton Council hosted a screening of the documentary ‘2040’ at KidsTown. The documentary, by ‘That Sugar Film’ Australian Director, Damon Gameau, explores solutions to climate change and consumerism.
Students from the Year 9 Elective ‘My 2040: Saving the Planet’ were invited to attend the night, with the Infographic posters that they had created in class, on display.
The class had an opportunity to speak to various community groups and organisations, such as GV Environment Group, RiverConnect, and Climate Ready Hume.
They were asked to share their vision of what they would like the Goulburn Valley to look like in the future – what their 2040 would look like.
Peter Harriot, CEO of the Greater Shepparton City Council, spoke to the students about the Shepparton Statement – an opportunity for the youth of Greater Shepparton to have their say on climate change and the environment.
