This week we are going to continue with our gymnastics unit of work, so find a space at home you are comfortable working in, socks off and let's get started!
Task 1: Remind yourself, what did I do last week? As part of your warm up activity show 5 different ways of travelling (moving) and 5 different balances with an object. Now watch the short video.
Link to video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bSmZguPdf5s&feature=youtu.be
Task 2: Try as many different ways of rolling which is safe to do so in the space that you have available.
Parent Tip. Forward roll is optional: If your child is performing a forward roll please make sure their head does not touch the ground when rolling. Head should be tucked in and back round. (Please refer to video for teaching points).
Task 3: Choose your favourite roll and link it to your favourite balance with an object. Remember a balance is only a balance if we can hold it for 3 seconds.
Task 4: Making up a sequence - think of a starting position, travel into a roll and link your hold for 3 seconds, travel into your finishing position. Hold the shape.
Parent Tip: Travel refers to moving the body forward, backwards or sideways. Both the starting positions and finishing positions should be held to indicate the start and finish of the sequence.
Task 5: Perform your work in front of an audience and get feedback.
Parent Tip: When watching the performance give your child feedback on what you enjoyed about the performance and something they could improve
Useful Links
It is important to stay active and healthy during these times. It is recommended that students participate in 30 minutes of physical activity each day. This could include jogging, running, skipping or practicing ball skills. We have included some links with additional activities and Mrs Travis' workouts from home. (Parent Tip - the workouts can be repeated and your child can choose and decide how many repetitions of an exercise they do) . Children and parents can actively get involved and exercise together.

Art - Tuesday
We will be continuing on with last week's task and finalising our sugar skull artwork!
'The Day of the Dead is celebrated in Mexico and other parts of Latin America. It is known there as Día de los Muertos. People who are from Mexico celebrate the festival in other countries as well. The festival is celebrated to remember loved ones who have died.'
Look at the examples provided and create your own patterns to express yourself. You can use textas or coloured pencils to create your very own decorative sugar skull! (If you have glitter or stick on gems you could use them too!!!)
TASK OUTLINE:
This week is a continuation of last week's lesson.
Continue on with your sugar skull artwork…
Creating your unique patterns & designs...
Use lots of bright colours in pencils or texta…
Once you have finished colouring in your sugar skull, i’d like you to go over the outline of your patterns in a black texta or fine liner. Make them bold so they stand out...look at the examples below.
EXTENSION: If you have finished and want to push your artwork further… You could add glitter to parts of your design, colourful feathers or other items to decorate your sugar skull! If you don't have any of these items, don't stress you can leave your artwork as is.
I can't wait to see your creations… happy colouring!
REFLECTION:
Once you have completed your artwork, I’d like you to reflect on what you learnt…Some questions to ask yourself.
What did you find challenging about today's lesson?
What is culturally significant about “The day of the dead”?
Why does this culture make these sugar skulls?

Students will be working on completing and repeating a sentence using the modelled language. I would encourage them to share their work on seesaw or work in their home learning books.

Performing Arts - Thursday
WEEK 3- STORY BUILDING USING FAIRY TALES
For today's lesson you'll need your completed 'storyboard' work from last week.
Here’s a reminder…
You’ll also need a camera, or something you can take a photo with (i-Pad or smart phone).
Task 1: Ask someone from your family to help you for this one…. Can you make a ‘freeze-frame’ (a frozen image like a photograph) showing the character of ‘Jack’ for 3 of the key points from your storyboard: one from the beginning, one from the middle and one from the end.
Think: How will you use/change your facial expressions, body position and body language to show what Jack is thinking and how he is feeling in each of your freeze-frames?
Take a photo to record your work if you are able to.
Task 2: Now bring each of your ‘freeze-frames’ to life with movement and sound (start in a frozen position- bring it to life for 10 seconds - then freeze again: repeat for each freeze-frame).
Think: What will Jack say? Or what sounds might he be making to show where he is or what he is doing?
If possible, maybe one of your family can record your completed freeze-frame work (Don't worry if you are not able to photograph or video any of your work).
