This week we are continuing with our gymnastics unit of work. Go find yourself a space at home and let’s start.
Task 1 – Remind yourself of the work we did last week. Can I show 5 different ways of balancing and 3-5 ways of travelling like an animal?
Video Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7YsJ1QaJPfk
Task 2: Create as many ways of rolling safely in the space that you have. Try some of the rolls Mrs Travis did.
Parent Tip. Forward roll is optional: If your child is performing a forward roll please make sure their head does not touch the ground when rolling. Head should be tucked in and back round. (Please refer to video for teaching points).
Task 3: Choose your favourite 2 rolls and link them together.
Task 4: Now think of a starting and finishing position. It's like making up a sentence, we start with a capital letter and finish with a full stop. Before your roll start in a tall shape, move into your next roll and finish low to the ground like a full stop.
Task 5: Extension task – Add your favourite balance from last week somewhere in your sequence (remember a balance is only a balance if you can hold that shape for the count of 3 elephants).
Task 6: Perform your sequence in front of an audience.
Parent Tip: When watching the performing please give feedback. What did you enjoy? What could you improve on?
Useful Links
It is important to stay active and healthy during these times. It is recommended that students participate in 30 minutes of physical activity each day. This could include jogging, running, skipping or practicing ball skills. We have included some links with additional activities and Mrs Travis' workouts from home. (Parent Tip - the workouts can be repeated and your child can choose and decide how many repetitions of an exercise they do) . Children and parents can actively get involved and exercise together.

WEEK 3- ‘WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE’ (DRAMA CONVENTIONS)
For today's lesson you're going to need to go on Youtube to watch a clip, then you'll need paper (or a notebook), a greylead pencil and coloured pencils.
This week we're going to use the story of 'Where The Wild Things Are' to help us find our more about different ways we can make our Drama work more interesting and to engage your audience. These ways are called 'conventions'.
Drama conventions are different techniques that can be used to improve performance skills such as developing a character and storytelling.
Task 1: Listen to the audio-story of ‘The WildThings’ (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jD1-f9C3CeE)
Task 2: Create a 'character profile' for the character of Max.
On a sheet of A4 paper, draw Max in the middle. Now write your descriptions of Max around your drawing. You might want to describe what Max looks like, give examples of things he might say or do, write about things that Max enjoys or dislikes. You can use facts from the story to help you, but you can also add information that you have made-up to help describe what kind of person Max is. (Appearance; personality; actions)
Here's an example to help you…
Parents: Your child may need some support writing their descriptions. One word descriptions are fine (E.g: 'wolf'; 'brave' etc) Please support them as necessary. If your child needs you to scribe their ideas for them, that's also fine.
