Dear Parents and Friends,

Our Year 1-4 swimming program commenced this week. It was lovely to see how excited the children were to participate in the swimming lessons - I’m pretty sure the bus ride has something to do with it as well! Thank you to the parents who have volunteered to help with the children, we really appreciate the support.

Save the Date

Save the date - Friday April 1. Staff are inviting all families for a BYO afternoon tea and chat. We would love as many families to attend, as we have not been together as a community for so long!

Time: 2.30pm - 5.00pm

BYO afternoon tea, chair and picnic rug.

Mr Whippy will be in attendance for a free icecream for all the students.

Code Camp

Next term an external provider (like AcroKids) are offering an after school program on Coding. Children will learn how to code and create a multi-level game throughout the term. More information to follow.

Easter & Our Easter Egg Raffle

This year Easter is in the middle of the school holiday, but our annual Easter Egg Raffle will occur on the last day of Term 1 - Friday 8th April at 2:30pm.  Raffle tickets will be sent home today.

Our Foundation Hospitality Reps are going to be wrapping the Easter baskets for us this year. Thanks to Krista, Kate and Christine  (Foundation Reps) who will be organising other Foundation families to help wrap the baskets in the last week of school.

Our Raffle Tickets went out today, please return them to the school office as soon as possible . We will be asking for your Easter donations of eggs, baskets, bunnies, or anything thing else with an Easter theme starting the week of Monday 28th March. Remember to check the use before date before sending them to school as we cannot send out items that are expired.

Tickets are $1.00 each.  Don't forget to write your child's name and class on the ticket stubs that are to be returned to school.

Review

Our school review will be occurring late Term 2. The staff have been working behind the scenes updating our curriculum policies which we have to do every 4 years prior to the review. It is such a good experience and we have such rich discussion about what we are doing and improving on at our school.

Splash of Yellow for Ukraine

Just a reminder that Friday we are asking staff and students to wear a splash of yellow in support of Caritas who are helping citizens over in the Ukraine during this difficult time. A splash of yellow means a yellow ribbon, yellow socks, a hair tie or something similar. We are asking for a gold coin donation to be placed in the Caritas money boxes in the classroom. Thank you for your support.

Covid Update

We have been very fortunate in the number of positive cases we have had at school this term. I must say each time we talk Covid we do touch wood. We have had a few students that have had to go into isolation as they were a close (family member) contact. For the term, so far we have had two students who were at school within 48 hours of showing a positive result. For those two cases I had to inform MACS. I do not have to inform MACS of any close contact or children who have contracted Covid while in isolation. Please remember to email me on wsullivan@sbmord.catholic.edu.au if you are isolating or your child has tested positive. Thank you for your support in this - we are doing an amazing job.

When we give out the RATs this week, they will be for next week (Week 9) and Week 10. Between the 1 RAT left from the last 2 weeks and the 1 left from Week 9 & 10 you will have 2 left over tests for the last week of term.

Contact Lists

For all families that agreed for their details to be distributed for the use of communication in each class, these lists have been sent home this week.  If your details are not on the list it means that you either asked for your details to be removed or you did not sign off against your details being made public.  There will be no further lists published this year and if details change - families can share those details as they see fit amongst themselves.  Our contact list are not to be used for business purposes.

TERM 2

Friday 29th April - 12 noon

Wednesday 18th May - 9.30am & 2:30pm

Enrolments are open and we ask that siblings coming to St Brigid’s  in 2023 enrol now.

Word of Mouth

Word of mouth  is the most effective tool to share with our school and local community about what St Brigid’s has to offer and the success we have. We invite our school community to leave a Google Review of St Brigid’s on our website.   Click here for the St Brigid's Location and Contacts Website page. Click on reviews and then select write a review.

Congratulations to Olivia Gryzsan

Mentone Girls’ Secondary College shared with us some wonderful news in relation to one of our former students - Olivia Gryszan who attended St Brigid’s primary school until Year 6 in 2016.  Olivia has been appointed as a 2022 College Captain.

This is the highest student leadership role at MGSC and fitting to share with her former primary school in the week of International Women’s Day.

Now in year 12, Olivia is a committed and active member of the school community, selected by her peers to the role. Olivia recently represented MGSC at a IWD breakfast at Parliament House where the Lord Mayor of Melbourne, Sally Capp, was the guest speaker.

Congratulations Olivia we are very proud of you.

Tuckshop Open Tomorrow

Don't forget to place your lunch order by 9:00pm tonight.  Click here for the link to CDFpay.

Please note if your child is absent on Tuckshop Day and you have placed an order - please email office@sbmord.catholic.edu.au by 9:00am on the Friday morning and your child's order will be held over until the following week.

In fairness to our Tuckshop Team, unfortunately if you do not advise us that your child is away, they fill the lunch order and the food then goes to waste.

Take care and stay safe.

Yours in partnership
