Diocese Swimming 2022

On Thursday 3 March 2022, 20 students represented the College at the Diocesan Swimming trials at Gunnedah. There were some outstanding performances throughout the day with many students competing in multiple events, with a high standard of competition.

 

Taine Mackay and Hallie Berton had some great swims and were both named aged champions for the 17 years division. 

 

Congratulations to the following students who qualified for the NSW CCC Swimming trials in Sydney on Wednesday 6 April: Taine Mackay (17 years),  Hallie Burton (17 years), Connor Lavender (16 years), Joshua Beard (15 years), Tilani Smith (14 years), Lauren Barnes (15 years), Georgia Williams (16 years) and Colbie Butler (14 years). 

 

The McCarthy team that competed at the trials also included: Koora Gillon, Jirra Gillon, Brock Easterman, Joshua Beard, Lauren Barnes, Sophia Berton, Colbie Butler, Bryce Clark, Jack Kelly, Connor Lavender, Taine Mackay, Elouise McCan, Sophie Morgan, Milah Smith, Lily Stewart, Georgia Williams and Isla Woods. 

 

The 6x50m relay was a highlight of the meet, ending the day with an exciting race. McCarthy finishing 2nd, narrowly placing behind St Mary’s Gunnedah. 

 

A big thank you to the St Mary’s College students who helped out on the day, Mr Tim Kennedy, the Diocesan Sport Coordinator, who coordinated the trials, as well as the parents who transported the students to the event.
