Assistant Principal's Report

Student reports are almost ready to be distributed to parents via Compass, over the school break it is important to have a good read of all the comments teachers have put in. It’s a time to reflect and think about how we have worked on tasks, how we can do better and improve ourselves.
Year 11 and 12 students study session
Elevate guest speakers spoke about time management and combatting procrastination. Overall students from both year levels got some good strategies for their approach to VCE.
There will be one more session for the year 12s in September where parents will be invited to attend the same session in the evening.
Free fruit!
A few weeks ago our Wellbeing Coordinator Karina Murphy organised a charity Second Bite to donate free fruit to our school, we have been lucky enough to have been provided with apples over the last few weeks that we have been distributing to all students throughout the week. This will continue over the next semester and hopefully we will receive some other varieties of fruit.
General Issues
With winter here we remind parents and students that “hoodies’ are not part of our uniform and students are expected to be in complete and correct school uniform every day. To combat the cold, students should wear a school jumper (for warmth) and a spray jacket (protection against rain and wind). In addition to this students are able to wear plain white t-shirt under their shirt; however, the t-shirt may not hang below the shirt or jacket and must not extend below the sleeve. If a student wishes to wear a long-sleeved white t-shirt they must be wearing the long sleeved college shirt.
Also with the colder weather students have been wearing non-college track pants. Students can only travel to and from school in PE Uniform on days they have a practical PE class and then only if they are wearing the correct PE Uniform. Items that are not part of the College PE Uniform are not permitted and a note will not be accepted for this. Students who do not have the correct PE Uniform are to wear their regular uniform and change for PE; with a note explaining why they do not have the correct PE uniform.
Finally, the wearing of a scarf is permitted, however this scarf needs to be either a navy blue or black scarf and not a big chunky one. If anyone would like to purchase a scarf these can be bought at the uniform shops.
Reminder!
Over the last year with the new buildings going up students were accessing basketball courts and Oval via the bus area. Now the building works are almost complete and we have access to the new wings students should now be walking past the senior centre to gain access to the sporting facilities. If student continue to go via the bus areas and are caught by teachers then consequences will be given.
VCE Drama performance.
Thursday 14th June I was lucky enough to see the VCE Drama students complete their Unit 3 SAC. It was great to see all the students performing and working as a team. Well done also to Roz Manly for guiding them through this process.
Also, a big thank you to the Performing Arts team Roz Manly and Jennifer Taylor for all their hard work getting our students ready to go on tour with the Annie Jnr performance.
