The Chaos Walking trilogy by award winning author Patrick Ness is available in the library. Read the books before seeing the movie! The young adult science fiction series consists of The Knife of Never Letting Go and The Ask and the Answer and Monsters of Men. A great choice for a holiday read.
The library now stocks the magazines, Girlfriend, Teen Breathe and Game Informer. These titles are for recreational reading in the library and are not able to be borrowed. The August edition of Teen Breathe has a great article on getting the most out of study and revision.
The staff and seniors book club has selected its second book, the Woman in the Window. The book club will meet Thursday break two on the second week of term four. This psychological thriller will be released as a film in 2019. The final book for the year will be The Year of Living Danishly. British journalist Helen Russell documents a year of living in happiest country on the globe, Denmark. She seeks to find out what do the Danes know about happiness that everyone else doesn’t. Both books will be available in the library.
This term we have been celebrating the twenty-first year since the release of the first Harry Potter novel. The seniors and juniors competed in a Harry Potter jigsaw challenge. The seniors in an impressive feat completed their puzzle in one week. They issued a re-challenge and have started a second jigsaw, looking to see if they can win once again. Our Harry Potter display incorporated items from one of your eight students own Harry Potter collection. We greatly appreciate the loan of these fantastic items.
The library has had the opportunity to display some of the amazing artwork produced by year 11. The up-cycling of unwanted books has led to very creative and intriguing pieces. Year ten English students have produced block out poetry created from discarded books and these will be on display soon. It is great to see students embracing such creative ways of reusing books.
