BREAKING NEWS: MOCK TRIAL TEAM BOWS OUT OF THE COMPETITION AT ELIMINATION ROUND 3!!
one of the top 12 scoring teams across the state, and the only comprehensive high school left in the competition for the final Elimination round. We were able to defeat the only other public comprehensive High School, Lambton High School on 15 August. Sadly, our journey came to an end against Merewether High School (Newcastle) on Tuesday 4 September. We were the Prosecution in a difficult online stalking case. Our team performed extremely well, losing by only 10 points. A big thank you to Gosford Legal Aid lawyer Hayley Dean who has been our coach for the entire competition. Hayley visited our school on three occasions to mentor the team and answered numerous emails from Mrs Kostalas. Her support has been greatly appreciated.
Our triumphant team consisted of; Katie Lewis and Eli Clarkson as barristers, Alexandra Sidiropoulos as solicitor, Luke Mirfield and Leo Coleman as witnesses and our Court Officer was Tom Marsh. Highlights from our trial with Merewether included the outstanding opening and closing statements from our barristers who had the burden to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that online stalking and intimidation had taken place. Our witnesses were excellent, and held up comfortably under cross-examination. A big thankyou to Tom Marsh who did an excellent job as our Court Officer. The team has only lost on points twice during seven trials. Finally, we’d like to thank Central Coast Leagues Club, who donated a function room for us to use after we couldn’t get a booking at the Court House. We look forward to next year’s competition and thank the Law Society of NSW for their organisation.

Relay for Life 2018
For the past 4 years I have been blessed with the opportunity to join fellow colleagues David Ardley and Melinda Topp in celebrating and acknowledging brave cancer survivors and resilient carers with Henry Kendall High School students at the Relay for Life charity event.
For those of you who are not aware Relay For Life is a community fundraising challenge raising vital funds for cancer patients. Participants camp for the night and raise money by completing laps on the athletics track and selling raffle tickets. This year due to other obligations David and I will not be attending which means we leave the banner with Melinda and her two daughters Charlotte and Miranda. The challenge of raising funds to support people affected by cancer, fund research and prevention programs is a challenge Henry Kendall High School holds close to its heart. I encourage all parents and students alike to attend the event which is held on the 13 and 14 October. It is a lot of fun!
Year 9 and 10 Netball Gala Day
On the Friday 31 August, the Year 9 and 10 netball team played in a gala day with many schools from all over the Central Coast participating. We lost some games against challenging schools, such as, Cheltenham Girls and Terrigal High School. We also won a few and our semi-final. Overall we came 5th in our pool out of 8 teams. It was a great effort from the team and overall it was a fun day.
