From the Principal

Term 1 was certainly intriguing and while COVID-19 may have affected our physical presence on site, it hasn’t quenched our thirst for learning.

Monday provided an exciting opportunity to trial remote learning with our student body.  The engagement was most encouraging and the staff and student feedback was very positive overall. Many valuable hints were identified on where we could refine our processes, if required, after Easter.  Importantly, our systems worked and the College successfully provided boys and girls with a structured learning environment, enabling continuity and momentum.  The most important lessons learnt were: routine is critical, phones must be banned from class and working under supervision is preferred.  Next term, we will arrange ‘Parent Briefings’ (via Zoom) to provide a more detailed overview of our expectations in Term 2.

I thank my amazing staff who have invested so heavily into this new dynamic way of learning and I thank you at home for your support, sacrifice and partnership.  COVID-19 will end, and when it does, we will have successfully navigated the way forward and ensured that no College child has suffered educationally.

Please be advised that, in line with current Government advice, the College is closed for walk-in and face-to-face meetings until further notice. However, we are still operational and we can be reached via: phone 5572 1355 or  email using your normal email contact and/or reception@hamiltoncollege.vic.edu.au.

I look forward to your sons’ and daughters’ returns next term and/or when the government decrees they may return.

I wish you all a safe and healthy Easter.

Dr Andrew Hirst
