Black and Green Aggregate Shield

Last Saturday the College hosted the first round of Winter sporting fixtures against local rivals Trinity Grammar School to contest the Black and Green Aggregate Shield for 2023. For the first time in several years the trial process wasn’t heavily impacted by rain and therefore, all teams could be selected and almost all Rugby and Football teams, along with the First and Second IV Tennis teams, could play a role in gaining points for the Shield.

As the Final whistle blew on Breen Oval, St Patrick’s had recorded 24 wins, 2 draws and 16 losses declaring us aggregate victors, retaining the Black and Green Aggregate Shield for another year.

Well done to all involved. A great way to start the Winter season and I look forward to watching all teams play in Term 2.

Winter Sport Training Schedules and Season Draws

I wish to emphasise the importance and need for the community to download the SPC App to ensure you are up to date with all relevant co-curricular sport items.

To ensure you are only receiving notifications which are relevant to you or your son, on the home page of the app click the ‘settings’ button on the bottom right corner, then select the ‘subscriptions’ option. Here you can select the ‘Co-curricular’ activities which you wish to subscribe to.

By Thursday afternoon you will be able to view all Winter sport training schedules for the remainder of the season. Please note that training will commence the first day back of Term 2 – Wednesday 26 April. It is expected that all boys know when their team is scheduled to train of a morning or afternoon and have the correct attire. Training plays an important role in preparing the team for a game. Week 1 will be a short week giving some teams the only opportunity to train once before Saturday fixtures begin on  29 April.

Over the holiday period I will be working on publishing draft draws for the Winter season to provide families with notice of fixtures in advance. In line with this I wish to inform you that upon the commencement of Term 2, parents/carers and boys will have access to view these draws via the SPC App and the College website.

End of Season Presentation Report

A special thank you to our Summer sport MICs, Mrs Warsop, Ms Apostolou, Mr Dunne and Mr Brennan for officially finishing their duties for the 2022/23 season with running the College’s Presentation Evenings last Monday and Tuesday nights. Your dedication and commitment to manage your sport for the boys’ benefit is truly appreciated. All families will now be able to view the Summer Sports End of Season Reports for Baseball, Basketball, Cricket and Swimming through the SPC App for each sport listed under the Co-curricular tab.

Good Luck!

On behalf of the College community, I take this opportunity to wish the First XI Football all the best for their fixture against Sydney Grammar, and who will also compete in the Inner West Tri-Series Football Tournament this holiday break.

Best of luck and safe travels to the touring party travelling to the land of the rising sun. The 2023 Rugby Tour to Japan will be an amazing experience for all players and coaches who board a plane this Friday 7 April.
