Secondary School

From the Head of Secondary

Our first full week has been full of activity in the Secondary School. Cross Country was the highlight of the week; there is something so very special about the whole school coming together; I love watching the support and camaraderie across the community.

We also welcomed back the staff and students from Uni Tour, had students and staff visit an aged care facility to deliver a Chapel service, sent a busload of students off to the local netball tournament, had students out on our final SCUBA course, and had a visit from WAAPA to work with our Year Eleven and Twelve musicians. The mix of sports, arts and service activities is lovely to see.

Term One Results

I would like to share some VACS results from Term One.

In the Sports rotation (Years Ten to Twelve students), the results were very interesting.  Mokare won the first two weeks, Baudin won the third and sixth weeks, and Wilson won the fourth and fifth weeks. At the end of the rotation, Camfield are in fourth place with 10 points, Mokare are in third place with 14 points and Wilson and Baudin drew for first place with 19 points each.

In the Arts and Culture rotation (Years Seven to Nine students) there was a painting competition and a photography competition. In the painting, Mokare came fourth, Wilson were third, second place was awarded to Camfield, and Baudin came first.

In the photography competition, Baudin came fourth, Camfield was third, second place was awarded to Wilson, and Mokare came first.

These results will all contribute to the House Shield, and we look forward to more results at the end of Term Two.

World's Greatest Shave

On Monday of Week Four (15 May), a group of our Year Twelve students are going to cut their hair or shave their heads in support of the Leukemia Foundation. This event was run last year by the Year Twelve leaders and our year group has decided to follow on and do the same. The head shavings will commence at lunchtime and each student would love your support before and on the day.

If you would like to donate to any of our Year Twelve students, here are the links to their donation pages:

We hope to see you there and thank you for any and all donations!
