Student Voice

We want our students to use ‘their voice’ to have a positive impact on the community around them during their time at school and beyond. Our Secondary and Primary School Assemblies are one example where students are provided with opportunities to speak and express their opinions.

Other simple ways to use their voice is for students to say hello to their peers and teachers at the start of the day or when they pass in the corridor. On any one day, we have micro and macro interactions that foster the development of student voice across our campus.

We understand that your voice is not always expressed verbally. Written pieces, dramatic and musical performances, artwork and more are all valued demonstrators of student voice. Recently the School Captain of a Melbourne school penned a thoughtful opinion piece reflecting the claims of the Presbyterian Church that gay students are not suitable for school leadership. The School Captain should be commended for his courage in expressing his stance through his voice. A voice that created a reaction of over 1 million people on social media.

2023 ‘RUOK?’ Whole School Interhouse Cross Country

Under cloudless skies, the Primary and Secondary School Interhouse Cross Country was run this week. With a focus on participation, effort and commitment, student attendance was the highest in many years. This can be attributed to students having a renewed willingness to be part of the House activity. We all understand the benefits of being outside and exercising. This House activity also provides an opportunity for students to be foster House spirit. Thank you to Mr Nathan Symonds, Mrs Deb De Jonge, Mr Paul Osborne and other staff who contributed to a successful day.
