Principal's News

Where every child is known, challenged and supported to be lifelong learners.

Dear Parents and Carers,

Last week I said that it was the time to reflect on what we achieved this term - it was my wrap up for the term as I am on leave from Wednesday this week. But I couldn’t end the term without saying:

Whole School Excursion to Healesville Sanctuary

What a wonderful day our school had at Healesville Sanctuary last Friday! I was so disappointed that I was sick and unable to attend but a very big thank you to the Foundation students who sent me a beautiful message and to tell me how much fun they were having.

All the children I have spoken to said they had a fantastic time and that it was great to all go out together.

Tracey told me the bus ride down was full of excited 1/2 students who could not wait to get there.  The Foundation to Year 4 students loved learning about the indigenous connection to land and the sustainable use of the lands resources.  The 5/6 students were challenged to design ways to help endangered animals.

The 3/4 team enjoyed exploring the sanctuary and enjoyed the Bird of Prey show and the 5/6 happily engaged with exploring the sanctuary and the animals.

A big thank you to the parents who came down and spent time with their children - I hope you enjoyed it a much as they did.

A big thank you to the staff who did an amazing job with their students to make sure they had the best day possible.

HOLY WEEK LITURGIES

This week saw the conclusion of our Holy Week liturgies with Good Friday being celebrated Monday afternoon. The children were incredibly respectful and left the liturgy in silence. In direct contrast, our celebration of Easter was a joyous occasion with the whole school joining in action and singing to ‘Rise up’ with 1/2E leading the way.

I’d like to take the opportunity to thank the staff and students for their preparation and participation in each liturgy.  Special thanks to the Year 6 leaders who led each celebration and to the families who joined us. Thank you to Jodie for preparing the liturgies for the children - it was done so reverently.

Thank you to all our families for your generous donations to Project Compassion.  This year we raised an amazing $605.80.

EASTER BONNET PARADE AND EASTER EGG RAFFLE

And what a way to end the term with our Easter Bonnet Parade at 9am and the Easter Egg Raffle. I think we have outdone ourselves this year - our Easter Bunny Helpers have wrapped 96 prizes for us. Thank you to Krista, Alex, Erin, Fiona, Emma and Abraham for their wrapping skills.  We are excited to announce that our Easter Raffle raised $1,635.00. What an incredible amount!  Congratulations to all our winners - special note to our major place winners:  1st - Matilda L,  2nd - Jordyn B and 3rd - Tate B

Life Education - Wednesday 26th  to Friday 28th April

A reminder we begin Term 2 with our visit from Life Education.  All children attending District Cross Country on Friday 28th April will attend an appropriate Life Ed session on Wednesday 26th or Thursday 27th of April.  Every child will have the opportuntity to participate.  If you haven't already responded to the Life Ed Operoo we ask that you do so before school resumes for Term 2.

I would like to wish you all a lovely Easter and I hope you get to spend it with loved ones.

Enjoy the term holidays and I look forward to seeing you all on Wednesday 26th April.

Take care and stay safe.

Wendy Sullivan

Have a lovely and restful break.
