Inquiry Term 2

This term the inquiry units will explore the following:

 

Prep Inquiry - Digital Technologies

The preps will be learning to define what digital technology is, label hardware and software as well as learning skills such as how to take a good quality photo (of their work) and safely publish it online (using Class Dojo). They will then explore the app Google Slides as a way to present their learning.

 

Year 1/2 Inquiry - Digital Technologies

The year 1/2 students will be learning about naming and sorting hardware and software, how to create digital displays of data and then use a range of software and hardware to follow multiple step instructions using simple coding.

 

Year 3/4 Inquiry - Digital Technologies

The year 3/4 students will be learning about what digital systems are, including the use of peripheral devices. Students will be learning to create their own Google Site to display their learning which will include; uploading, inserting and embedding images and text.

They will explore the features of websites, focussing on what makes a site accessible by a range of people including those with different needs such as colour blindness. Students will be planning their website using flowcharts and explore the concept of simple branching. Throughout this unit they will be learning about various Google software programs / applications that they can use, their purposes and how they interconnect.

 

Year 5/6 Inquiry - Health

For the first part of term 2, year 5/6 students will be learning about puberty. This will begin with the family night next week, run by Catholic Care: Open Doors. Students will be exploring how we change during puberty.

 

Year 5/6 Inquiry - Digital Technologies

In the second part of term 2, year 5/6 students will be learning about algorithmic decision trees, defining networks and then designing an interface as a solution to a problem and then testing and modifying their programs to meet the needs of the audience.
