Good afternoon OLSC families   

Welcome to Term 2.  I hope everyone had an enjoyable break and the students of OLSC took care of the people that care of them during the holidays - as they were asked to do at our final assembly.  Term 2 is busy though short term - we are only here for 9 weeks!  

Enhancing Catholic School Identity Surveys 

Thank you to all the families that completed the Enhancing Catholic School Identity Surveys last term.  The winners of the uniform and fee discount voucher were the Shanks and Nuguru family.  Elizabeth, Rohit and Nidhi were excited to recieve their certificates at our final assembly.  Congratulations and once again thank you to all of those that completed the survey.  

ANZAC Day   

This week we all took time to remember and honour those that sacrificed so much in war so that we can live with the freedoms that we take for granted.  

Anzac Day is a national day of remembrance in Australia and commemorates all Australians and New Zealanders who served and died in all wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations.  We also remember the families of those that served and the sacrifice of their families.  

Easter Raffle 

Last term the Easter Raffle was drawn at our final assembly.  Congratulations to all of the families that received one of the prizes.  I sincerely thank all of those that donated Easter eggs that made this such a successful fund raiser for our school.  The raffle raised $4375. Thank you to our parents and friends committee for spearheading this event.  

Is Your Child in Year 5 - please read! 

If your child is in Year 5 and you plan for them to attend MacKillop in Year 7 in 2025 it is time to start the enrolment process with the college.  

Important dates for your information:

• Thursday 4th May Open Day (see below for all information) 
• Enrolment applications for Year 7, 2025 close on Friday August 18th 

Athletics Day - New Date - Friday May 19th 

We have organised a new date for our Whole School Athletics day.  Please save the date as all families are encouraged to come along and join in our event.  We will be sending out invitations for parent helpers to help marshal and run events.  Thank you to the staff that have joined our Athletics Day committee to help plan this whole school event.  Thank you, Michelle, Jodie, Janeen, Alison, Jordan and Rita.  

Welcome Bec Dennis  

Bec Dennis has taken up the vacant office position and started in the new role on Wednesday.  I am sure you will all join us in welcoming Bec as she settles into the new role.  She will be the first contact on the phone and at the office window.  Bec is very familiar with the school community and was one of the founding families when the school opened and all three of the Dennis children attended OLSC.   

Please have a look in the community section of the newsletter for some information on local football and basketball opportunities for students to get involved.
