Wonderful1/2

One-two-rful 1/2s

Term 2 Week 2 2023 - Friday 5th May

What have we been up to?

What a fabulous start to Term 2! The 1/2 teachers are so proud of all the 1/2 students who have come back to school and straight into swimming with ease. They have been super resilient and flexible with the changes in timetable and daily routine to accommodate swimming. The staff at Waves have also commended all Le Page groups on how lovely they have been to teach.

Over the first 2 weeks learning has been very disrupted but the students have applied themselves to lessons when they are in the classroom. They have loved learning about the structure of Narratives in Writing and making predictions during Reading. They also reconnected with their Buddies and are now super close to finishing if they haven’t already finished making their 7 Habits game they will eventually make and share with the school.

We started the Term with a revision session of the signs we already learnt and then learnt Sign Language Culture signs that help with bridging the gap between the deaf community and wider community.

Here are some photo highlights from the fortnight that was!

1/2A - 1/2A were proud to share their ANZAC Craft at our special ANZAC Assembly

Having fun before Swimming 🙂

1/2B - We created acrostic poems using our names!

What is coming up?

Reading

Over the next fortnight the 1/2 students will continue to develop their understanding and knowledge of non-fiction texts by looking at a variety of information reports and non-fiction books. They will ask questions before, during and after reading and begin to summarise and synthesise information they read.

Writing

Throughout the next two weeks in Writing students will explore the language features of Information Reports and write a joint information report as a class using their developing knowledge.

Maths

Students will continue learning about place value. They will be focusing on two-digit numbers and moving towards three-digit numbers. They will investigate the place value of hundreds, tens and ones using MAB, Unifix and Place Value Charts.

Inquiry & Science

In the coming two weeks, students will share the bugs they found in their own backyards and reflect on their progress with their Personal and Academic WIGs.
