Fantastic 3/4

Term 2 Week 2 2023

What have we been up to?

The 3/ 4 students have settled back into routine fantastically. It has been wonderful to see their enthusiasm towards new topics.

In Literacy, the focus has been on information reports. We have explored different types of information reports. Students have enjoyed reading about butterflies. We have been impressed with their research skills and finding all the required information to write an interesting information report.

In Maths, we have continued exploring Number and Algebra. Students have been introduced to the concept of subtraction. Students have been working in groups that help target their area of need to ensure they are being challenged in all maths sessions.

Additionally, in science our students have received two butterflies for each class to observe. They are currently in the chrysalis stage of their life cycle. The students are eager to watch them grow and emerge as beautiful butterflies.

Thank you for your ongoing support!

Best regards,

Year 3-4 Teachers

Here’s what we have been up to

What’s coming up?

Literacy

In Literacy, our focus will continue to be on information texts for reading and writing. We will be exploring a range of non-fiction texts and developing skills in summarising, note-taking, and identifying key information. The children will also be creating their own information texts, using their research skills, and learning how to present information in a clear and engaging way.

Numeracy

In Maths, we will continue our  focus on subtraction. The children will learn various subtraction strategies and develop their problem-solving skills through the use of real-world scenarios and word problems.

Science & Inquiry

In Science, we will be exploring the Biological Sciences. The children will learn about living things, including their structures, behaviours, and interactions with their environments. They will engage in hands-on activities and experiments to deepen their understanding of living systems.

In Inquiry, our focus will be on Indigenous Australians First Contact. We will be exploring the historical context and impact of the first contact between Indigenous Australians and European settlers. Through this inquiry, the children will develop a deeper understanding of the history, culture, and perspectives of Indigenous Australians.
