Yr 11 & Yr 10 English

Year 12 VCAL Literacy

The Year 12 VCAL Literacy groups have been studying topics such as “A.I.” (“Artificial Intelligence,”) and “Sustainability.”  They are to be congratulated for stepping up to achieve excellent results on quizzes in class and in their diligence in learning about topics in the news at the moment regarding these areas of enquiry.  The target-vocabulary mastered by the group is exemplary.  Keep up the excellent work, TSC VCAL Literacy!

(above:  What are the options for incorporating Sustainability-based approaches in our world? Year 12 Literacy are ahead of the curve in being able to discuss & write about these and other topics! Plus, what kinds of jobs will be enhanced by A.I. in the future?  What skills, however, will we always need humans to contribute to the workplace? These are the questions our Year 12 VCAL groups are covering in Literacy at TSC.  Well done everyone!)

Year 11 English

Year 11 are to be commended for studying some current literature while showing increased dedication towards their studies this term, with a focus on the anthology of short stories called, “Growing up in Australia.”  The collection showcases a range of short stories based on the lived experiences of people from around the world who now live in Australia.  What does it mean to be “Australian?”  How can we find ways to navigate discussions around culture and identity?  These are the types of questions that Year 11 are tackling very academically this term in English!  Well done everyone!

Year 10 English

Year 10 are to receive accolades for their aptitude in completing the recent CAT assessment on the movie version of the classic, “Twelve Angry Men,” by screenwriter, Reginald Rose (and directed by Sidney Lumet.)  Students showed that they are able to focus and demonstrate great skill in crafting essay responses to the CAT questions regarding justice, ethics and decision making, while developing critical thinking skills.  Congratulations and well done on your efforts, Year 10!  (below: Original movie-poster for “12 Angry Men.”)
