Our 'Living & Learning' Project

Curiosity's Living & Learning Project

At Curiosity ELC one of our belief statements is:

"We believe that children have the capacity to think deeply, critically and creatively which is enhanced through active and purposeful inquiry, question posing and problem solving".

Learning in this sense is not passive, it is ACTIVE and therefore is reflected in every interaction we have, whether that be between our own self explorations, interactions with others or the environment and resources we have available to us.  This is why we have called our 'curriculum' documents, 'Living and Learning' Projects.  As we live and interact in this world we engage in a powerful opportunity to learn.

Each week our Lead Educators collate the information that has been observed and recorded by our team and our children and reflect on the question, "what learning is happening here?"  It is from this question that we can gather thoughts as to how our projects could evolve with the introduction of resources, materials or purposeful educator-to-child interaction.

Each day, there are daily reflections on focus projects that have been underway which are located in a big folder on the children's Learning Journey folders in the entry.  You will begin to see learning stories appear on Storypark which will take on different forms as each of our educators grow alongside your children in observing and documenting their interactions together.

Sharing the learning that is happening at Curiosity is important for you  to feel connected with us, so I encourage you to add valuable comments into Storypark as you marvel at the stories that your children are writing with their experiences.  Feel free to share your thoughts of any focussed projects your child may like to be involved in with any of our educators.  We love to receive family input.
