STATE ATHLETICS

State Athletics – Thursday 24th October.

Last Thursday saw nine of our students competing at Lakeside Stadium in the State Athletic Championships. The weather was very warm and the conditions were favourable to some very good performances across the day.

Our school team members tried hard against the state’s best and acquitted themselves well. Well done to all our representatives – it was a great effort to get to the state level.

A big thank you to the parent contingent who had to battle the traffic and limited car park space- your support and encouragement was appreciated.

Results:

Audrey McGannon - 8th in high jump, 14th in hurdles.

Reuben Gammon – 11th in 200m, 16th in 100m.

Gemma Meadley – 13th in 200m.

12g relay (Olivia Cumming, Audrey McGannon, Matisse Carmody, Zara Borg) – 15th  -  59.96sec.

12b relay (Lincoln Hamilton, Josh Doolan, Mitch Croatto, Reuben Gammon) – 13th   -  57.51sec.

BIKE EDUCATION

Bike Education will commence on 5th Dec. for grades 5 & 6 and 6th Dec. for grades 3 & 4. This is a preliminary notice that students will need to have road worthy bikes (grades 5 & 6 especially as they will be out on road). There is a bike shop in Korumburra and it is advised that you book early if your child’s bike needs a mechanic.

Leongatha Police will again be involved in the program with students in grades 3 to 6 receiving a talk on Dec 9th, 5 & 6’s a practical session on the velodrome on Dec. 12th and the police will ride back from Inverloch with the 6’s on Dec. 17th.

Further information will be sent out closer to the program.

5/6 CRICKET BLAST

On the 30th October 2 teams competed in the grade 5/6 Cricket Blast held at the Leongatha Primary School oval.  Both teams had fun and played well with great sportsmanship.
