ACC Athletics – Wednesday 12 September

State Athletics Centre

Congratulations to all students who represented John XXIII College with such distinction at the ACC Athletics Carnival on Wednesday 12 September at the State Athletics Centre. The competition on the day was fierce with many of WA's best junior athletes competing. The team showed tremendous character with several students competing through injuries and illness. Overall John XXIII College finished sixth. There were many outstanding individual performance on the day. For interested students and parents detailed results can be viewed via the following link:https://www.accsport.asn.au/system/files/sportstrak/athletics/2018/athsa/page1.htm

As always, it is difficult to single out individual athletes in a team of over 150 students. However, the following individual achievements are well worth noting;

  • Leila Barker – 1st Overall female under 13
  • Austin van der Struyf – 1st Overall male under 13
  • Lucy Gleghorn – 1st Overall female under 15
  • Aislinn Morris – 2nd Overall female under 16

The ACC Athletics Carnival is our biggest sporting team at the College. Thank you to all students involved whether it was as a competitor or supporting the team as a reserve, your contribution and commitment to the team is appreciated. A final thank you to the John XXIII College PE staff, Mr Yagan Williams, Alumni and external coaches. Without their help we would not have been able to run the comprehensive training sessions which prepared the team for the carnival day. I look forward to the season in 2019 and I hope the students have enjoyed their involvement with the ACC Athletics team.
