MEDIA ARTS

Thank you to the hundreds of parents who attended our Film Festival yesterday to celebrate the end of our Media Arts Inquiry unit.  This was a wonderful way to showcase their film products and I know the students were very excited to show their learning to you.

The Preps  used Strip Designer to retell a fairy tale

Year 1 and 2 created movie trailers and news reports using imovie

Year 3  and 4 used Stop motion and animations to tell a story

Year 5 and 6 used the ipads, green screens and OpenShot video editing to create mini movies

A huge thank you to our teachers for their guidance with the students learning new skills.

Congratulations to all our students for their enthusiasm, commitment and perseverance in creating their products.  There were many steps involved in this process and it was wonderful to watch students continually grow and develop skills over the term.

A special congratulations to Miss Smith for her direction, enthusiasm and creative abilities in designing and planning the units for each of the teams.

ASTHMA

As part of a review and update of all first aid related policies we are making some changes to our asthma procedures. In an effort to make our first aid procedures more effective we will now be storing our Asthma reliever medications (Ventolin) in classrooms. This means teachers can administer this medication in a timely manner.  If a child’s asthmatic conditions still seem to persist after the initial dose of medication then the child will be sent to the Sick Bay where a further dose will be administered and if necessary parents will be notified.

At the end of each year reliever medication  will be sent  home and then returned back to school on the first day. of the new year.

For those students who attend OSHC we are asking that you bring a second preventer (Ventolin) into school to be stored in the OSHC room/s.

All first aid related polices have been ratified by School Council and can be found on the Compass portal under School Resources.

REPORTS

Semester One reports were made available this week. If you haven’t accessed your child’s report yet you can do so through Compass – View Academic Reports.

PREMIERS READING CHALLENGE

As we head into the holidays we have  342 students who have completed the Challenge so far- this represents 55% of our students.  Congratulations to all of our fantastic readers.  The winter school holidays are a perfect opportunity to gets lots of reading done. I look forward to seeing more students continue to compete the challenge over the next few weeks.

EARN AND LEARN

Thank you to those who have donated stickers into our Woolworths Earn and Learn bin.  Tuesday 25th of June was the final day of Earn and Learn.  We understand some families may still have Earn and Learn stickers at  home. In order for these to be counted please drop them off at OHSC or in the school letterbox on Monday or Tuesday next week (while we are on holidays).

The points we receive from the Earn and Learn program help to build our classroom resources.
