Mobile Phone Policy

You may have read or heard this week that the Minister for Education, James Merlino, announced mobile phones will be banned for all students at Victorian state primary and secondary schools from Term 1 2020. The aim of this policy is to reduce distraction, tackle cyber bullying and improve learning outcomes for students. Wheelers Hill Primary School already has this ban in place as per our Mobile Technologies Policy which is attached below.

New Flags and Flagpoles

You may have noticed our new flags and flagpoles at the front of the school which feature the Australian flag, the Aboriginal flag and also a Wheelers Hill Primary School Flag. The Department of Education encourages schools to fly the Australian National Flag and Aboriginal Flag. The national flag takes precedence over other flags so it has been placed on the highest pole. From next term on at assembly you may also notice these flags as well which we will refer to when singing the National Anthem.

Next Parent / Teacher Interviews

The next Parent/Teacher Interviews will be in the last week of Term 3 to discuss student progress in Semester 2 and goals for the rest of the year. If you wish to discuss the Semester 1 student report with your child's teacher, please make an appointment with them early in Term 3. 

School Disco

A big thank you to Jess Connaughton and the Parents' Association members who organised and ran a fantastic Space Themed disco in the gym last Friday. The students who attended had a great time dancing and playing games under the glowing black lights and decorations. Money raised from the night will go towards purchasing new benches and seating around the school for our students. 

Save the Date - Art Around the World 

Just a reminder the exciting Art Show "Art Around the World" will be next term on Thursday 12th September. We would love to see as many students, parents, grandparents, family and friends of the school there as possible to view all the wonderful art our students have produced over the year. More details to come in Term 3. 

School Assembly 

Just a reminder there is no assembly on the first Monday back from holidays. Our first assembly will be on Monday 22nd July. 

Happy Holidays

I'd like to wish all our students and families a happy and safe holidays. We look forward to seeing everyone back at school on Monday 15th July for the commencement of Term 3.
