Last Thursday evening the Information Evening  for Space Camp 2020 was held at Corpus Christi College, and information packages were distributed.  Via the daily notices this week the opportunity for more students to nominate has been highlighted, and any student who now wishes to be involved in this outstanding program must submit a form no later than Tuesday 12 March.  Those who have already taken the questionnaire forms are reminded that they are due on Monday.

Teams and arrangements have now been completed for Interschool debating and Da Vinci Decathlon.  Interschool debating commences on Tuesday 19 March, and preparation sessions will commence on Monday 11 March from 3:15pm - 4:30pm, although some teams will have sessions at different times during the week. A Debating Breakfast with a guest speaker from the W.A. Debating League is also being organised. Debating Handbooks have now been circulated, and whilst these contain fixtures, it is critical that all 11 teams carefully check the WADL website as changes are likely to occur occasionally throughout the season. Warmest thanks to Deacon Aaron Peters, Ms Kirralee Dawson, Mrs Mary-Anne Lumley, and Ms Bonita Devanand who are assisting as team managers and/or coaches.

Da Vinci Decathlon teams have now been finalised and preparation has commenced.  Special thanks to Mrs Jo McLoughlin and Ms Bonita Devanand (Mathematics), Mrs Joan Davies (Coding), Ms Morgan Ball (Cartography) and Mr Gerry Cotter (Science) who will be providing practice sessions for the Da Vinci sections at designated times leading up to the events at Winthrop Hall, UWA on 2 & 3 April.

Other Magis events coming include Creative Edge at Curtin University on Saturday 30 March, and Debating and Creative Edge seminar breakfasts in the next few weeks.  This week is the final chance for any students who have not yet completed the Academic Spelling challenge to do so. Placegetters will be listed in next week’s newsletter, and currently we have one student who has achieved 100% in this very difficult challenge – Congratulations to Natalie Ong from Year 9.
