Year 7 - St Omer Camp

Last week the Year 7 cohort set off on to Woodman Point for our annual St Omer camp. This camp is named after St Omer in France where Mary Ward went to begin her vocation to religious life. Like Mary Ward the Year 7 students are beginning a new stage in their lives at John XXIII College.

We filled our three days together with exciting activities such as rock climbing and high ropes challenges, search and rescue missions, a bike ride along the coast and building rafts (most of which stayed together on the water!). We released our creativity and learned about Aboriginal culture through boomerang making. At night the students tested their general knowledge with a quiz night and pitted themselves against the guards in “Escape from Quarantine”. A highlight of the camp was our celebration of Mass with Fr Rodrigo on the beach at sunset.

All in all, this was a wonderful opportunity for students and staff to spend time bonding as the graduating class of 2024. Many thanks go out to the staff who gave their time generously for this camp and the students who participated wholeheartedly in the experience.

John XXIII College Italy Study Tour

By spending time with both a host family and participating in an Italian School, students have gained first-hand experience of the living culture of Italy and have travelled to cities such as Rome, Venice, Florence, Siena, Pisa, Milan and Vasto. Check out their awesome experience.
