Principal News

Dear Parents, Students and Friends,

Yesterday, March 5 the Griffith Soroptimist Club celebrated International Women’s Day at the Annual Breakfast Celebration. Marian Catholic College student leaders and a table of staff joined hundreds of women and men to listen to Kerri Pottharst, Australia’s most decorated Indoor and Beach Volleyball player, having represented her country for an incredible 20 years. Today, the Senior Students heard NRL Rugby League great and State of Origin Coach Brad Fittler talk about dealing with pressure and living life well.

Both Kerri and Brad has similar tips on dealing with anxiety and achieving goals and whilst both come from a sporting background, they are leaders with influence and both are sharing their thoughts with others. They mentioned a positive mindset, Kerri through focus, relentless belief in your goals and a never give up attitude and Brad through some simple and effective tips he calls “BEST”.

Breathe, Energy (hydration and food), Sleep and Talk (to others about how you are going).

Both speakers are inspirational and clearly believe in their message. I hope that both audiences had some good takeaway thoughts. I remind everyone that a very valuable wellbeing resource for all students and parents is on our opening page of the College website www.mccww.catholic.edu.au, schooltv.me. It covers a wide variety of wellbeing topics with up to date information in an easy to follow format. Please take a look. You will be surprised at how valuable it is and may be just what you need!

Finally, Senior students (and parents) also attended talks during the week to help them prepare for the HSC and the adjustments to being a student during this important time. Further into this newsletter there is a report about this event.

Last newsletter I omitted a staff member from the 10 Year Service recognition Certificate list, Congratulations Office Staff member Michelle Quade.

There will be a Professional Learning Day for all staff on Monday 27 April.  Students will commence on Tuesday 28 April.

Peace and Best Wishes
