NSWCCC Junior Basketball Championships

The NSWCCC Junior Basketball Championships were held in Penrith on Monday 16 and Tuesday 17 October. Our Junior Boys', Junior Girls', Intermediate Boys' and Intermediate Girls' teams all qualified for the tournament through their success at the Diocesan Basketball Tournament held in Term 3.

After being strong at the Championships over the last few years, the teams found that they did not have it all their own way in 2017, coming up against some tough competition, which was to be expected with the rise in popularity of Basketball.

Our students all played to their full potential on both days and showed great sportsmanship on the court.

Congratulations to our Intermediate Girls' team, who won the Bronze Medal in the Championship Division, and our Junior Girls' who received Gold in the Plate Division.

I would like to thank the coaches who give up their time to train and put in a number of hours preparing teams for these Championships: Mr Paul Hobson, Mr Matt Hobson, Mr Neil Wood and Mr Tony Higgins. I would also like to thank Mrs Natahlia Bryant and Miss Fran Mumford for assisting and giving up their weekend and time to attend, and Ralph Alley for transporting our teams and staff to and from the venues. Without people like the above mentioned, none of this would be made possible and I know that the students (and myself) greatly appreciate it. A special mention must also go to the parents who continue to support the growth of their children at these Championships and assist on the benches at the games. Thank you!
