Interhouse Athletics Carnival

On Friday 10 August, the College held our annual Interhouse Athletics Carnival at Ern Clark Athletics Centre. After a very, very wet start to August, we were blessed with some fine weather for the day. Congratulations to all students for their participation and enthusiasm. There was a tremendous amount of House spirit on display as you all participated in novelty events and traditional track and field events.

Congratulations to Xanten who took out the Spirit Bear in the new novelty games format which saw each year group participate in a range of novelty games against the other Houses. The idea behind this new format was to provide opportunities for more students to get involved on the day.

  • Xanten – 1,000 points
  • Kilnacrott – 975 points
  • Prémontré – 905 points
  • Magdeburg – 890 points
  • Tongerlo – 770 points

The House points were close all day but it was Tongerlo who ran out the winners of the 2018 Interhouse Athletics Carnival:

  • Tongerlo – 9,989 points
  • Premontre – 9,729 points
  • Magdeburg – 9,677 points
  • Kilnacrott – 9,623 points
  • Xanten – 9,188 points

There were an amazing 25 new records set on the day!

Since announcing the age group winners at the carnival, I was made aware of an error in some results. After rectifying this mistake, Holly Giles was retrospectively awarded Year 8 Runner-Up Champion Girl. I would like to apologise to Stephanie Earsman and Holly Giles for the error.

Thank you to everyone who was involved in helping to organise and run events on the day, special mentions to our parent helpers Ms Fern, Mrs Hopkins, Mrs Hale, Mrs Povian, Mrs Craven and Mrs Langford who all volunteered their time on the day, Mrs Rogers and her team for the coffee and cake stall, the finish line team lead by Miss Hilton, the results room team lead by Ms McKenna, the PE staff and Head of Houses (and House Captains) who helped set up in the morning, the soulful sounds of Mrs Mulley and Ms Kyd, all the staff who assisted running field events, novelty events and supervising in House bays. Apologies to anyone I have missed!

It is a pleasure to be able to organise such a fantastic College event and we now turn our attention to the ACC Athletics Carnival which takes place in Week 9.
