Now we have come to the end of the school year. The displays have come down in the classrooms, the library book shelves are covered up, parties are happening all over school, and there’s a certain buzz in the air, knowing that Santa Clause will soon be coming to town. Some of us are ready for Christmas, with gifts chosen and foods on order. And some of us are feeling very overwhelmed by the amount of work and tasks still to be finished. One way or another, everything will get done and there will be time to stop and relax with family and friends.
I have included an article for you to read, on how reading can be a type of therapy, capable of reducing anxiety, while improving self-esteem, empathy and emotional intelligence.
I hope you all enjoy reading the article. It was published in the Sun-Herald and in the Age recently.
I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very safe, healthy and happy Christmas.
Make sure your children continue to read throughout the holidays, and I will see you all in the new year, with a library full of new books just waiting to be borrowed.
Happy reading
