Over the past few weeks we have begun to wind things down in the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program. Harvest has decreased in preparation for the holidays, and we began to celebrate our achievements for 2019. Our Year 6 students took part in a MasterChef style competition showcasing their learning over the four years in the program by making a delicious dish of Fried Rice, completely without assistance or a recipe to follow! Each team was responsible for making their dish, setting a table and cleaning their workspace and were judged on taste, presentation, cleanliness of their space and being on time. Not only were all of the students successful, but an amazing time was had by all!
Our Year 3, 4 and 5 students celebrated the end of the year making yummy pancakes with fresh fruit salad. As this menu was a little more relaxed, it gave us all the opportunity to enjoy more sharing time and reflect on another fantastic year of kitchen.
A special thank you again to all of our wonderful classroom helpers who have given up so much of their time to assist the students throughout the year, without whom, we would not be able to deliver the program that we do.
I sincerely wish all of our families a very happy and safe Christmas.
Happy holidays and keep cooking!
