COGS

Google Sites at CHS has a new name! COGS

CHS students are responding positively to the newly implemented Learning Management System (LMS) which uses Google Sites as a platform for curriculum delivery at Years 7 and Year 11 this year.

To make it officially part of CHS curriculum delivery the new LMS has been named COGS which stands for Coburg Online (Google Sites).

From 2020, students in Years 7, 8, 11 and 12 will access curriculum and assessment primarily through COGS with Years 9 and 10 students to follow soon after.

COGS has an integrated instructional model GANAG (Goal, Activate, New Information, Application, Goal Review) which focuses student learning through setting achievable goals at the beginning of every lesson and a clear sequence to learning which is intuitive for students to follow and consistent between each class in different learning areas.

Feedback at Years 7 and 11 indicate that students like the structure and consistency of lessons on COGS and this has improved both their engagement with learning and their learning outcomes. COGS also supports home learning more effectively, with students able to review lessons in an easy-to-follow format and access and share application tasks through Google Suite products like Docs.

Some features of COGS are still being developed but it has already made a significant impact on student engagement and learning. COGS is a progressive system of curriculum delivery system that is consistent, highly functional and accessible and supports students to achieve their best.
