Individual Achievements
Dylan K is in the national age squad for swimming and is in the Northcote swimming club. Through his swimming he has achieved the Victorian state time for 100m butterfly of 1:05.19 and the state threshold is 1:06.00. Dylan has been swimming since he was 2 years old and trains eight times a week. Dylan is hoping to race at the nationals swimming championships next year which will be held in Perth. Dylan has raced in Hobart and Adelaide and came in the top five for his age group. Well done Dylan. What an achievement!
European Handball
What a wonderful opportunity our students had participating in the inaugural Division European Handball competition on Tuesday 15th October. European Handball is an Olympic sport but until this year had not been offered as an Interschool sport. Our students displayed fantastic school values throughout the day. A special mention to the two Year 8 boys who played against the year 10’s all day. We had some fantastic results.

Table Tennis
On Wednesday, the Year 8 table tennis team competed in regional finals. Both teams represented Coburg with pride and played well. The boys/ mixed team was made up with Year 7 students competing against students a year older than them. Both teams played some fantastic table tennis and improved throughout the day against strong opposition.
Basketball
Our division-winning Intermediate Girls basketball team moved to the next level of competition on Thursday 17 October. The girls played all three games really well and enjoyed the challenge of the day. Thank you to Jaq, Steph, Larissa, Evie, Kayla, Moana, Millzy, Courtney, Mia, Mariana & Luna for giving up your lunchtimes to improve their basketball capabilities.
Chess
A huge congratulations to our students who recently competed in the state chess finals. A special mention to Esther P who finished 4th in the girls-only event and was also our top performer at the open event.

Nelson Alexander Scholarship 2020
Congratulations to all of our future Year 7 students who submitted entries in the competition. There was a very high standard of work presented and we applaud you for your efforts.
The winner of the scholarship is Annika O, whose insightful piece of writing is attached below. Annika will be presented with a new MacBook thanks to the generosity of Nelson Alexander Real Estate.
A special mention to three of the other entrants who will be receiving 'Highly Commended' awards--Annie J, Sally S, and Ruby D--for their exceptional writing.
