Our St Finbar's Prayer

Dear God,

Guide us with your Spirit, so that St Finbar's stays a place where people feel welcomed, included and know that they belong.

Help us to be people of peace, who create true and everlasting friendships celebrating difference, honesty and trustworthiness.

Help us to be brave when we need to be, during hard times and watch over us as we make mistakes and guide us to use our strengths to create a better world.

For the greater glory of God.

St Finbar pray for us.

 Hampers of Love

All donations for the Hampers must be received by tomorrow, Friday 13th December.  These will be packed on Monday 16th in time for our final Whole School Mass on Wednesday 18th December at 9:15 am.

If you have any other donations please feel free to drop them in at the office.  They will be passed onto the Social Justice Leaders for sorting.  Thank you to those families and staff members who have already donated so generously.  Thank you to Tom, Claudia, Luke and Lucas for leading this appeal and for all the work they have done this year. It was a pleasure to work along side this wonderful team. I look forward to seeing the amazing work they will do throughout their secondary school journey.

Advent 2019 - Week 3

Advent candles

This week all students have participated in an Advent Walk. It started outside the Art Room, where students were invited to write a word or phrase about what their hope(s) are for Advent this year, after reflecting upon the first week of Advent. The second week of Advent challenged the children to reflect upon the feelings that Mary and Joseph would have had as they journeyed to Bethlehem, for the census.  Our third stop explored the third week of Advent. The students reflected upon the pink candle often referred to as the Shepherd's candle  which symbolises love and joy. Each student responded on a card, as to the joy that they had in their lives and the joy of Christmas time. These were then tied to the fence in the John Ashe playground.  The fourth week station challenged the students to create and post a prayer of peace for this Advent. The walk culminated in finishing with the white candle or Christ candle.

The student's wonderings and responses throughout this walk were a privilege to be a part of.  Everyone including; parents, toddlers, grandparents and friends are warmly invited to an Advent liturgy on Monday 16th December at 2:45pm in the Church.  The Year 5 students will be leading us in prayer.
