Musical Camp

Almost fifty students and eight staff spent three days during the holidays rehearsing this year’s College Musical, 'Monty Python’s Spamalot'. By the end of camp, students managed to run through the first half of the show with the orchestra under the direction of Ms Robyn Cole. Students returned tired but extremely satisfied with what had been achieved. Thanks to all involved.

College Middle School Play

Anyone who has been in the Chapel and Performing Arts Centre over the past week would have seen the set for this year’s Middle School Play, Roald Dahl’s, 'The Witches', taking shape. The cast of twenty-five students from Years 7-9 are now into the final stages of rehearsal and tickets are selling fast. The production is managed by the Year 10 Theatrecraft class and directed by Ms Jacqueline Flood. There are two performances, Thursday 9 May at 7.30pm and Friday 10 May at 3.30pm. Roald Dahl’s, 'The Witches', while a little scary in places, is written for children and so is suitable for the whole family. Tickets are $16.50 adults, $11.00 students/children or a family of four for $55.00 (plus booking fees). https://www.trybooking.com/BASFW

VCE Theatre Studies Play

Frankenstein is one of those stories everyone knows even without having read the original: ‘Man’ makes monster; monster runs amok; monster kills ‘man’. It may come as a surprise to discover that the creator, not the creature, is called Frankenstein, and that the original creature was not the shambling, grunting, green-faced monster but an articulate soul who meditates on John Milton’s Paradise Lost.

The 2019 Year 12 VCE Theatre Studies class have built their own creature and world where the audience has an opportunity to question love, family, science and religion. Every student has designed costumes, sets and characters to transform the original script into one that surpasses time but instead questions our own values and morals. So, come and see a show that will push the boundaries of conventional theatre, shock your senses and be transported to a place possibly not too distant from the future!

There are three performances; 7.30pm on Thursday 23 May and Saturday 25 May and 3.30pm school matinee on Friday 24 May. The production will be presented in the round, meaning that only forty seats are available to each performance. Tickets are $16.50 adults, $11.00 students/children or a family of four for $55.00 (plus booking fees) from trybooking.com
